Andrew Evans
Group Chief Executive, co-founder and board member
Andrew co-founded Smart to give real people simpler ways to save and access their savings throughout their lives. As the company has grown, world-leading institutions and governments have partnered with Smart, allowing us to help more people with their money. Previously, Andrew was an international managing director, with roles in banking and finance. He also works with cutting edge innovation foundations – awarding funding and offering advice to promising UK fintech companies and social entrepreneurs, including those who work with open banking.
Alex Arundale
Chief People Officer
Alex Arundale brings over 25 years of extensive HR experience to Smart, with a strong background in tech, private equity, and international business. Most recently, Alex served as the Chief People Experience Officer at Advanced, one of the UK’s largest providers of business software and services.
Andy Marshall
Chief Commercial Officer
Andy has held several leadership roles across multiple industries, including CCO of Zoopla, and CEO of the software division at Houseful, Zoopla’s parent company. Houseful is owned by Silver Lake, one of the largest private equity firms in the world, focused on technology-enabled investments, with over $100 billion of deployed capital. This background, twinned with his past experience at Experian and LexisNexis, makes him a perfect addition to the Smart team.
Bahea Izmeqna
Chief Product Officer
Bahea has an extensive international career in fintech with experience across the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia. She brings a wealth of experience to her role at Smart, where she oversees technology, product and solutions, with a particular focus on the development and strategic enhancement of Smart's cutting-edge platform, Keystone.
Charlotte Murphy
General Counsel
Charlotte is a practising lawyer and oversees all legal matters for Smart, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations. She has extensive financial services experience and joined Smart in 2022. Charlotte was previously at Zurich UK, where she held senior legal counsel roles advising the life insurance and pensions businesses and leading the company secretariat function.
Claire Aldridge
Executive Assistant to Group CEO
Claire is one of Smart's longest-serving employees, having joined the business in 2016. She has over eight years' experience of providing administrative and organisational support to senior management.
Duane Bernt
CEO, Smart US
Duane Bernt is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Administrative Officer of Smart in the U.S. He also is President of Stadion Money Management and serves as the Chair of the Stadion Investment Committee. Prior to joining Stadion, he served in a variety of senior leadership roles at Lincoln Financial Group. Duane is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Eoin Corcoran
Chief Financial Officer and board member
Eoin is responsible for Smart's finance and legal activities. With a strong background across organisations including KPMG, Eversheds as well as technology and B2B information services, Eoin's experience covers finance leadership, capital markets and fundraising, corporate, commercial and operational strategy, and M&A.
Jamie Fiveash
Chief Executive Officer, Smart UK and Ireland
Jamie is passionate about transforming pensions to make sure that they bring greater value and help improve later life for all people. He was previously Chief Operating Officer at B&CE, where he was instrumental in the design and delivery of The People’s Pension, before joining Smart in 2018. With a background in accountancy and more than 27 years' experience in financial services, Jamie is an experienced and skilful pair of hands to efficiently lead Smart's pension and platform businesses to further significant growth.
Joanne Zhang
Director of Risk and Assurance
Joanne is an experienced risk management professional and qualified accountant, with experience across a range of international banks and consultancy firms. She has deep expertise in designing and implementing risk management frameworks within the first and second lines of defence, undertaking large scale regulatory changes and managing policies. Joanne is also the Data Protection Officer for Smart, overseeing all privacy matters. In 2024, she was called to the Bar of England and Wales at The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn.
Martin Gill
Chief Technology Officer
With leadership experience across technology and engineering, Martin brings a wealth of knowledge to the role. Before joining Smart, he was VP of Engineering at a rapid-growth fintech payment company. Prior to this, Martin spent several years at Moody’s Analytics, where he led teams responsible for developing regulatory risk reporting software for major banks. Earlier in his career, Martin worked at UBS in Fixed Income IT for eight years, and was one of the early pioneers of Agile methodology in the UK with ThoughtWorks.
Paul Toon
Commercial and Corporate Director
As well as being responsible for Smart's commercial strategy, Paul leads all group M&A activity. Before joining Smart Paul headed corporate development for Legal and General Investment Management, where he was involved in their investment in Smart at our Series A round and subsequent fund raises, amongst a number of acquisitions, minority investments, business disposals and corporate strategic planning cycles.
Rosie Crowley
Director of Business Management
Rosie's role is to ensure alignment between the Senior Leadership Team and the broader organisation on key business priorities and specific projects. Her extensive experience across various roles at Smart has provided her with a comprehensive understanding of all facets of the business. As a qualified pensions actuary, Rosie brings a diverse skill set to the team, ranging from numerical analysis to effective communication.
Ryan Jones
Group Finance Director
Ryan is a strategic and operational finance leader with experience across financial services and technology businesses including KPMG, RSA and Aldermore. He is ACA qualified and holds an MBA with Distinction from Warwick Business School.
Tim Phillips
MD, Smart Middle East and Asia
Tim is the Managing Director of Smart's Middle East and Asia business. Based in the UAE, Tim works with Smart's platform clients to deliver digital platforms, in order to drive innovation and efficient operations in the running of DC pensions and savings schemes. He has worked in the pensions industry for 20 years, with the past five years being based in the Middle East. He is the former elected Vice President of the Pensions Management Institute in the UK.
Will Wynne
Adviser and co-founder
Will is behind Smart’s technology strategy, innovation and global vision. Starting with a solid background in private equity, Will moved to eBay's marketing department where he grew their members from three to eighteen million in three years. He also created the business case for eBay's charity arm, which raised several hundred million pounds for good causes. Will is the co-founder of ArenaFlowers.com, one of the UK’s leading flower and gift delivery businesses, and oversees fintech acceleration programmes run by Octopus Investments. Will is also Chairman of Trulience, a futuristic, digital human software firm.
