This beta feature allows members to get an overview of their pension figures, with a voice over and fun graphics. It is rendered live in the browser using a TTS (text to speech) engine, SVG animations and javascript. This ensures the figures are always correct.

The challenge
Many scheme members find pensions unappealing, particularly when information is presented in a staid, formal manner. This means that members may ignore their pensions and fail to make effective retirement plans.
The hypothesis
We believe that a fun, upbeat presentation format will engage scheme members who may ignore other types of communications.
What we did
We built a React web app that members could sign-in to using oAuth. Live pension data was taken from the platform using the Smart Pension API and was rendered into an animated pension walkthrough using JavaScript, SVG animations and a TTS synthesised voice-over. In July 2020, this was deployed in a beta trial to approximately 8,000 scheme members and it received a CSAT score of 87%.
